The thoughts you call your goals, ambitions, and future plans are all fictions and mental masturbation.
Over and over again you feel a sense of dissatisfaction and then turn thoughts around to feel something other than dissatisfaction.
Do not avoid your dissatisfaction by telling stories. Do not indulge your dissatisfaction either.
Be in each moment with your whole body present and see, hear, feel, and smell the myriad of life's sensations, all at once.
Indulging in thoughts about the future is a closed process. We are shutting out the present and literally playing out some movie or novel in our heads. It's all made up and nobody else is watching.
No wonder we become dissatisfied so often, we spend so much time "seeing" ourselves in fictitious narratives.
When we are in this moment there is no story to play out. No "fat to fit" or "30 days of detox."
Freedom from suffering requires we let go of our grasping. In other words when you notice yourself hoping, wanting, craving, or desiring just drop it and let yourself be here right now.
Unless you're tied to a rack and having your fingernails ripped off with pliers things aren't so bad.
